Friersdale was one of the numerous outstations served by Keimoes. In 1952 Father Van den Berg took charge and has to his credit the remarkable church and modern classrooms which you pass and admire on your way from Keimoes to Kakamas.
Father Van Wegen, the first resident, took over in 1969. He continued the good work, alone, without the assistance of a Brother or Sister. Very soon he had to think of extending the church to accommodate the increased number of his flock. More classrooms were built, and, after a year of discomfort in a poky little room, he paid himself the luxury of a neat and comfortable rectory, where visitors find him planning a parish hall and better ways and means of gaining souls for heaven.
