Augrabies

This Mission gets its name from the famous Falls in the Orange River, which attracts tourists from all parts of the country. However it was not the vicinity of the Falls which made Bishop Thunemann decide to found a Mission here. The ardent desire of so many catholics in this region to have their own Mission and resident Priest, brought them Father Enrico Balducelli who was sent from Keimoes and who, since 1953, with the help of three devoted Oblate Sisters, worked so zealously among these people of good will that, by 1970, Augrabies itself became a Mother Mission.
