McTaggarts Camp

Fr Puyjalon osfs

One man’s meat is another man’s poison. It was a lucky day for Bishop Fages and Fr.Puyjalon when they met a certain Mr. Broude, landowner, near his lorry which had run of petrol halfway to Upington. This was the beginning of a foundation at McTaggarts camp. The modest little building which was to serve as church and school was blessed on the 14th July, 1935

On the following day, Mr. S February led an excited troop to take possession of their new classroom. Although a live-in mist cannot be spared for this station, it is regularly visited by mists from the Keimoes area.
The beautiful church with its exceptional architecture, built by Brother Gerardus, draws the admiration of passersby and travellers on the road between Keimoes and Upington.
